Privacy Policy

1. Data Privacy Policy

Be IP’s data privacy policy covers the collection, use and disclosure of personal data that may be collected by Be IP whenever you interact with the company, for example when you visit the website, when you purchase our products and services, or during a phone call with our sales or support staff. Please take the time to read the following to learn more about our information practices, including the type of information we collect, its use and purposes, to whom we disclose it, and how we protect your personal information. Your privacy is a priority at Be IP, and we do everything in our power to protect it.

2. Why we collect personal information

We collect your personal information because it allows us to provide a superior level of customer service. This makes it easy for you to access our products and services and lets us
focus on the categories that interest you most. In addition,
your personal information helps us keep you informed of the latest announcements about our products, software updates, special offers and events that may interest you.

3. What information we collect and how we may use it

There are a number of situations in which your personal information can help us offer you better products.

For example:

  • We may ask for your personal information when you discuss a service issue over the phone with an employee, when you download a software update, register for a seminar, take part in an online survey, register a product, or make a purchase.
  • When you interact with Be IP, we may collect relevant personal information, such as your name, mailing address, phone number, email address and contact preferences; information about the Be IP products you own, such as their serial numbers, versions and purchase date; and information relating to a support or service issue.
  • We also collect information for market research purposes – such as your activity and where you use your computer – in order to gain a better understanding of our customers and thereby provide a higher quality of service.
  • We collect information about customer activity on our website. This helps us determine the best way to provide useful information to customers and understand which parts of the website, products and internet services are of the greatest interest to them.
  • We may use your personal information to provide products you have requested, as well as for audit, research or analysis purposes to improve Be IP’s products.

4. Publicly posted information is public

If you use a bulletin board system or a discussion forum on the Be IP website, be aware that all information you post is visible to other users. Personal information you submit to any of our forums may be read, collected or used by other people to send you unsolicited messages. Be IP is not responsible for the personal information you choose to submit on these forums. For example, if you choose to make previously non-public information available by enabling certain user features, Be IP will collect this information from your interaction and it will become publicly accessible.

5. When we disclose your information

Be IP takes privacy very seriously. Be IP does not sell or rent contact information to other companies.

6. Within CE+T Group

To help us provide superior service, your personal information may be shared with entities across the CE+T Group, which will take the necessary measures to protect it, in accordance with Be IP’s privacy policy.

7. With our service providers, suppliers and strategic partners

It may also be advantageous for Be IP to make certain personal information about you available to companies with which Be IP has a strategic relationship, or which work on Be IP’s behalf to provide you with products and services in our name. These companies may help us process information, extend credit, fulfil customer orders, deliver products, manage and improve customer data, provide customer service, assess your interest in our products and services, or conduct customer surveys. These companies are also required to protect your personal information in accordance with Be IP’s policies, unless we inform you otherwise at the time of collection. In some cases, the law or litigation may require us to disclose your personal information. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that disclosure is necessary for reasons of national security, law enforcement, or other matters of public interest. To protect your personal information, Be IP takes all necessary measures, including administrative, technical and physical measures, to protect your personal information against loss, theft and misuse, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.

8. Integrity of your personal information

Be IP has put safeguards in place to ensure that your personal information is accurate, complete and up to date for the purposes for which it is used. Naturally, you always have the right to access the personal information you have provided and to correct it. You may always request a copy of your personal information, the history of your product registrations, and your interactions with our sales or support staff by contacting the email address below.

9. Cookies and other technologies

As is common on many corporate websites, the Be IP website may use “cookies” and other technologies to help us understand which parts of our website are the most popular, where our visitors come from, and how much time they spend on our website. We also use cookies and other technologies to help ensure that our online advertising attracts customers to our products and services. We use cookies and other technologies to study traffic trends on our website, to make it more rewarding, and to study the effectiveness of communication with our customers. We use cookies to personalize our customers’ experience and offer them greater comfort each time they interact with us.

For example, knowing your first name allows us to welcome you back the next time you visit the Be IP website. Information such as your country and language helps us provide you with a better online experience. Your contact information, your products’ serial numbers and your computer information help us register your products.

Like most websites, we automatically collect certain information and store it in log files. This information includes the IP (Internet Protocol) address, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date and time, and clickstream data. We use this information, which does not allow individual users to be identified, to analyze trends, manage the website, track user movement on the site, and gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. Be IP will not use the information collected to conduct direct marketing efforts targeted at an individual.

In certain emails, we use destination URLs linked to content on the Be IP website. When customers click on one of these URLs, they pass through our web server before arriving at the destination web page.

We track this click data to help us determine the interest customers have in particular topics and to measure the effectiveness of communications with our customers. If you would prefer not to be tracked, simply avoid clicking on text or graphic links in the email.

10. Our company-wide commitment to your privacy

Be IP takes the protection of your privacy very seriously. To ensure the security of your personal data, we communicate guidelines to Be IP employees and strictly enforce privacy protection measures within the company. In addition, Be IP supports corporate initiatives, such as TRUSTe, aimed at preserving privacy rights on the Internet and in all aspects of e-commerce.

11. International users

Be IP complies with the security standards established by the Belgian Department of Commerce concerning the collection, use and retention of personal information gathered within the European Union.
