Since 2003, Be IP has been developing communications solutions in Louvain-la-Neuve. Not by reselling technology from others, but by building it ourselves — for Belgian organisations, with Belgian engineers, hosted on Belgian soil.
Computer engineer from UCLouvain, Damien Sandras is one of the pioneers of Open Source SIP telephony. Creator of Ekiga — one of the first Open Source VoIP softphones — he founded Be IP in 2003 with a clear vision: to build a sovereign, reliable, Belgian communications platform. Twenty years later, that vision is Gosip.
Internationally recognised Open Source telephony software, forerunner of WebRTC. Developed and maintained by Damien Sandras.
Recognised contributor in the international Open Source community. His command of the SIP protocol is at the foundation of every technical decision at Be IP.
From police zones to CHUs, through Walloon SMEs: Damien Sandras has built Be IP through long-term relationships, not short-term contracts.
The milestones that shaped Be IP and define our expertise today
Damien Sandras, drawing on his expertise with Ekiga and the Open Source SIP protocol, founds Be IP with the ambition to offer Belgian organisations a sovereign, reliable alternative to proprietary telephony systems.
Be IP develops its own UCaaS software suite: Gosip. A unified communications platform built from the ground up, designed for the Belgian market.
Be IP establishes itself in Walloon police zones and emergency zones. The demanding reliability requirements of these critical services validate the technical choices made from the outset.
Be IP integrates WebRTC technology into Gosip, enabling calls to be made and received directly from the browser — without any plugin or dedicated hardware.
Be IP co-develops hospital call centre features in partnership with CHU de Liège. A co-construction approach that has since become a hallmark of Be IP's method.
Be IP develops Rostom, a Belgian SBC (Session Border Controller) to secure and interconnect VoIP communications. A sovereign brick for sovereign infrastructure.
Be IP crosses the 100,000-user milestone. 5 out of 12 emergency zones, dozens of municipalities and hospitals: Gosip becomes a reference platform for critical Belgian organisations.
Major new version of Gosip: redesigned interface, AI features, integrated mobile application. Gosip Mobile brings the full unified communications experience to iOS and Android.
At Be IP, team stability is a commercial argument. Your contacts don’t change every year. The engineer who handles your installation is the same one who answers your support call three years later.
Gosip is developed entirely in Louvain-la-Neuve. No offshore subcontracting, no outsourced codebase.
Our cloud infrastructure is located in Belgium. Your voice data, your call logs, your configurations — none of it leaves Belgian territory.
Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet: these solutions work, but your data transits through American servers, your costs depend on their pricing decisions, and your roadmap follows their priorities. Not ours.
When you call Be IP support, you speak to a technician who knows your infrastructure, your sector, and your constraints — in French or Dutch, during your working hours.
In 2025–2026, the question of digital sovereignty has become a genuine concern for Belgian organisations. Public procurement increasingly requires data hosted on European — or even Belgian — soil. Be IP has been building this sovereignty since 2003, long before it became a requirement.
Most Belgian telecom operators assemble bricks bought from third-party vendors. At Be IP, the core of Gosip — the SIP engine, the routing logic, the call centre features — is developed in-house. This means faster fixes, greater flexibility, and genuine technical expertise when you need it.
Full command of the SIP standard and its extensions (RFC 3261 and onwards). No black box, no third-party dependency.
Native WebRTC integration in Gosip: calls from the browser with no plugin or hardware required. Built and maintained in-house.
Full REST API enabling integration with any CRM, ERP, or business application. Documented, maintained, and supported directly by our teams.
Be IP is headquartered at Parc Scientifique Fleming in Louvain-la-Neuve, a stone’s throw from UCLouvain. Our teams operate across the whole of Belgium — from Walloon police zones to Flemish businesses, via Brussels hospitals.
Parc scientifique Fleming Fond Jean Pâques 4 -
Leader in Walloon police zones and emergency zones. Strong presence in Brussels institutions and hospitals.
Dutch-language interface available. First Flemish clients now in deployment. Actively expanding northward.
The difference between a supplier and a partner is what happens after the contract is signed. At Be IP, support, updates, and availability are part of the deal — not optional extras.
What you sign is what you pay. No surprise modules discovered after go-live, no annual price increases without notice.
Clients have trusted us for over 10 years. Our business model does not depend on constant client acquisition — it depends on keeping the ones we have.
Our money, our jobs, our data, and our R&D stay in Belgium. That's a choice, not a constraint.
A no-commitment conversation to see whether Gosip is the right fit for your organisation.
